Monthly Report: May 2026

  • Programming
    • I took responsibility to represent the library and create a welcoming environment for the long-time weekly SA Needle Craft Group. The name of the program was changed to the Knittin' Kittens in an effort to rebrand and revitalize the program. I became the point of contact, created a branch flyer and have promoted the program in a local Facebook group.
    • After multiple requests and inquiries about when the next Typewriter Type-In would be from attendees at all four programs last month, I decided to make the type-ins a monthly recurring program at the branch on the 3rd Saturday of the month using my personal collection of machines. The program will coincide nicely with the Mission Marquee's Farmers Market which occurs on the first and third Saturdays of the month. The first of the recurring Typewriter Type-Ins was Saturday, May 16th. Luckily, David Torres from Austin Typewriter Ink.,  was able to come, host the program as well, and also brought his machines as well, so that I could extend the program by an hour. Twenty-five persons attended.

David and I brought the majority of typewriters along with 3 other attendees who brought typewriters. Attendees came from Austin and Houston. About 25 typewriters were available for attendees to use. David and I would encourage  attendees to choose a machine and sit down. We then showed them the basics of operating the machines.
