Monthly Report: May 2026
- Programming
- I took responsibility to represent the library and create a welcoming environment for the long-time weekly SA Needle Craft Group. The name of the program was changed to the Knittin' Kittens in an effort to rebrand and revitalize the program. I became the point of contact, created a branch flyer and have promoted the program in a local Facebook group.
- After multiple requests and inquiries about when the next Typewriter Type-In would be from attendees at all four programs last month, I decided to make the type-ins a monthly recurring program at the branch on the 3rd Saturday of the month using my personal collection of machines. The program will coincide nicely with the Mission Marquee's Farmers Market which occurs on the first and third Saturdays of the month. The first of the recurring Typewriter Type-Ins was Saturday, May 16th. Luckily, David Torres from Austin Typewriter Ink., was able to come, host the program as well, and also brought his machines as well, so that I could extend the program by an hour. Twenty-five persons attended.
- Committees
- I met with the Discovery Team committee.
- Trainings
- I attended the training, Serial Collection: Basic Overview and Updates, in which I became familiar with the process for processing incoming serials via Symphony, learned about reporting claims when items do not arrive, and more.
- Teamwork
- For Mission's fifteenth birthday celebration on May 2nd, I assisted with technology setup and troubleshooting for various operations.
- I adjusted my schedule to cover early voting.
- Etc.
- I created a replacement flyer for the Children's weekly story times that was more in line with the current focus on SAPL branding.
- I prefilled out EOD cash envelopes using a typewriter to create a more neat and consistent appearance.
