Monthly Report: January 2026

  • Programming
    • I hosted Get Up & Dance for Kids, a monthly recurring program I offer on the first Saturday of the month, in which children are encouraged by music to move around and learn to follow directions in a fun environment.
    • I hosted Bingo for Older Adults, a monthly recurring program I offer on the last Friday of the month, in which older adults can come together and enjoy playing bingo together.
  • Committees
    • This month I joined the newly formed Discovery Team committee. The goal of the committee is to improve how patrons discover and access library materials digitally. In addition to the first monthly meeting, I joined a subcommittee focusing specifically on the reorganization of the databases on the library catalog. The subcommittee met an additional two more times during the month of January.
  • Trainings
    • I attended the Visual Merchandising Training at Central Library in January as assigned, and learned valuable techniques that can be applied to creating displays at the branch.
  • Teamwork
    • Amanda and I decided which items to purchase from a list with the money awarded to the branch for our attendance of the Virtual Merchandising Training.
    • Worked on Sunday January 25th, when many other business and offices were closed due to the hazardous driving conditions presented by rain and subfreezing temperatures, and despite the warning by the Texas Department of Transportation urging people to stay home and off the roads.
  • Branch Projects
    • I brought and displayed my personal collection of vintage touch-tone and pulse phones in the glass display case in the lobby.
    • I submitted the Property Disposal form for several broken chairs and a very old printer that needed to be disposed of.
  • Etc.
    • I successfully recorded the Holiday Greeting for MLK Jr., Day for the CISCO phone system with the help of Library Aide Perla Campos, who recorded the Spanish portion.

EPE goal for next month:

  • I would like to come up with another program for older adults to replace the monthly recurring Bingo program.
